Just Eat It: Mussels, Chorizo & Cider

This week from Franklins in East Dulwich, another simple yet delicious recipe to enjoy over the weekend… Mussels, Chorizo & Cider.


  • 1.5 kg mussels
  • 100g cooking chorizo
  • 1 large shallot
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 200 ml dry cider
  • 100 ml double cream
  • Bunch of flat leaf parsley


  1.  Slice the chorizo, chop the shallots and thinly slice the garlic
  2. In your largest saucepan fry the chorizo add the shallots and garlic cook until softened
  3. Add the cider, bring to the boil
  4. Add the mussels, cover with a lid, steam for four minutes, shake the pot a couple of times
  5. Take off the heat, discard any unopened mussels
  6. Stir in the cream and the parsley
  7. Serve with a good sourdough an ideal mop for the sauce
