Incase you hadn’t noticed, we’re building a café! Got some questions? Hopefully these FAQs will help answer them. If not, please contact the Club Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Why build a café?
Members have expressed an interest, for some time, in having good coffee and healthy food and drink options available at the Club as we have been extremely limited with vending machines in the past. In addition, we would like to offer a central hub for our members so that friends and families can enjoy some time together before and after they use the Club facilities. Similarly, we foresee the Cafe being available as a meeting spot for community teams, groups, clubs and organisations. How long will the Build take?
We have been working on the design and planning for over year now and expect the main building work to be complete by January. We will then focus on the design of the interior and hope to be opening in spring 2017. We all know that building work can overrun but we’re hoping this won’t apply in this case.
What’s happening with the car park?
There will be reduced parking directly in front of the Sports Centre during the build period. However, we do have additional parking next to the tennis courts. Just to reiterate, parking is reserved for our members only. If you live locally and can walk or cycle, it would help reduce congestion (and it’s healthier too!). However, we are aware that this isn’t always possible.
How big will the café be?
The cafe will have capacity for 60 people.
Who will run the café?
There will be a team dedicated to running the cafe and we hope to appoint a Cafe Manager in January. We will shortly be recruiting for experienced, professional and friendly candidates to form the team. When it will it open?
We hope to open the cafe in spring 2017 and will keep you updated through our newsletters. If you do not currently receive the newsletters and would like to, please give your email address to reception and ask to be added to the list.
All the green plants the other side of the tree have gone. Are you going to replace them?
Ensuring the area remains ‘green’ has been absolutely key, to the design of this build. There will be lots of plants and shrubbery and one of the key features of the Cafe will be the green living roof.
What will be on the menu?
The newly appointed Manager will be responsible for finalising the details of the menu. However, we know that our members would like good coffee, high quality tea (including herbal options), home baked cakes, freshly squeezed juices, healthy snacks including salads and sandwiches and children’s options. We are also hoping to get a license to serve locally produced alcohol. Our goal will be to make food tasty, satisfying, healthy and, where possible, locally sourced. Whats the long term plan for the area under the tree?
The tree will remain as it is and the area around it will be soft landscaped.
Is there a name for the Café?
We don’t yet have a name for the Cafe but we will be asking our members to help us out! Look out for a competition on the newsletters and social media.
